Dear CRUSA/FC Bucks families,
Good morning, we hope this finds you and your family safe and healthy this summer. We would like to use this opportunity to highlight a few things before the fall season officially kicks off. First, we want to thank all of our members who helped with the CRUSA/FC Bucks Summer Invitational this past weekend and made it a great success. There were several CRUSA FC Bucks boys and girls teams that played in their respective tournament final and one boys team, the U17 FC Bucks Force, that won the tournament. Congratulations to the Force and all of our teams that played this past weekend.
We also received several positive comments from members of other clubs that attended our tournament regarding our efforts to follow Return to Play guidelines and create a safer environment for the players and their families. That said, we received a couple reports of instances where we could have practiced better social distancing and/or did not mask up. We appreciate you continuing to be mindful of your surroundings and setting an example for the players.
Moving forward, we will begin intramural and academy training in a couple weeks and our travel teams will be playing at other tournaments and at other clubs’ fields so it is very important that everyone follows EPYSA Guidelines including social distancing and masking up at games. Likewise with our training facilities, liability for our partners at CRSD, Bryn Athyn and Northampton Township is a major concern so everyone needs to do their part to help our kids stay safe and playing as long as possible. Please note we are asking our coaches to be vigilant about masking up, making sure our players mask up when they are not playing/training and ensuring everyone is updating TeamSnap for tracing purposes should it be necessary.
Regarding kits, as you have probably noticed, most orders have not arrived yet as our supplier, Adidas, has experienced significant manufacturing delays due to Covid 19. We are talking to them daily getting updates but it may take a couple more weeks before they arrive. We appreciate your patience in what has been a very different and unpredictable year.
However, there will also be several improvements this fall including the revamping of our FC Bucks Jr Academy which will switch from three sessions (fall, winter, spring) to five (fall 1, fall 2, winter 1, winter 2 and spring) and will feature college athletes and professional trainers working with our U7 and U8 players. Additionally, we will introduce a club wide goalkeeper training day each Friday evening. And starting this fall, our FC Bucks teams will be training on two brand new turf fields – Council Rock North and Academy of New Church which is located right next to Bryn Athyn.
We’ve also added several new NCAA college coaches to our staff including Ellis Badillo (Rider), Nick Bochette (Temple), Kevin Brenner (Eastern), Kyle Clark (Ursinus), Daniel Clitnovici (Villanova), Matt Dabrowski (Drexel), Mike Discavage (LaSalle), Megan Geldernick (Villanova) and Chris McLain (Villanova). This is in addition to several excellent returning coaches that we are proud to have on staff.
On that note, the club has created the Mike Jonovich Boys Coach of the Year Award and Eddie Leigh Girls Coach of the Year Award to be awarded to the top boys FC Bucks coach and top girls FC Bucks coach each June in honor of our late president Mike Jonovich and our late Director of Coaching Eddie Leigh. We miss you both.
Lastly we know there’s some uncertainty about what sports will look like this fall. We want to assure our members that although we are hoping for the best, we are preparing contingency plans with our Directors of Coaching and our staff in the event there is another stoppage. More information will be forthcoming should it be necessary.
In the meantime, good luck to our teams who are competing in tournaments this month as well as the semi-annual friendly series with SJEB this weekend. Wishing you a safe and healthy rest of your summer and look forward to kicking off an exciting fall season.
